The Local Government has recently approved the extension of the collaboration agreement between the city of Totana and the Association "Golden Age of Peace Messengers" Murcia to develop programs, in coordination with the Day Care Service, for the attention of a total of 15 older people affected by Alzheimer's disease in the municipality.
The agreement, proposed by the Social Welfare Department, aims to continue providing the service for Alzheimer's Day Care-SILK Totana (located in the Calle Real, near the Center for Social Services), to increase the quality of life and care of older people with dementia.
Thus, the program of comprehensive care includes day stays regime intended to maintain the level of functional autonomy of these people in order to achieve permanency in their family and socio-community, delaying or even preventing their entry so residential centers.
To achieve this end, the Association "Golden Age Murcia Messengers for Peace" (dedicated to the group of older people) is committed to continue the operation of the Service Day Care for Alzheimer-SEDA through nursing services, physiotherapy , and-ancillary nursing supervisor.
Furthermore, the association should obtain appropriate professional staff for compliance and implementation of the Convention, including an ATS / DUE, another physical therapist (for a total of 10 hours per week), a supervisor (a full day with professional category entitled higher average in the social sphere, preferably a psychologist), and three nursing assistants.
Finally, service recipients will be selected by the Panel on Assessment of the Social Welfare Department of Aging and Area Unit, and must meet the following requirements: be 60 years, with some type of dementia
Finally, since the Department has reported that this service is provided Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 10 am to 18:00 pm for 12 months.
