Caritas of the churches of Santiago and the Convent of the "Three Marys" have today received more than 250 kilos of food and over 150 liters of milk, oil and hygiene products, which were obtained after harvesting food joint that have made workers and users of the City of Totana.
In total we have collected 20 kilos of pasta (noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, etc), 25 kilos of pulses (chickpeas, lentils and beans), 20 liters of oil, 70 liters of milk, 20 kilos of rice, more than 35 kilos of tin cans (tinned tomatoes, tuna, sardines, peaches, artichokes, etc.), 25 liters of hygiene products (gel, shampoo, toothpaste, towels, toothbrushes, deodorant, toilet paper) and colony for babies), 15 kilos of sugar, 5 kilos of salt and flour, 19 kilos of biscuits, 10 kilos of cocoa powder and coffee canned fruit, sweets, juices and other products.
The purpose of this local initiative has been to help Caritas Diocesan Inteparroquial to be able to meet the high demand today is the unstable economic situation in the country.
Following the successful joint collection conducted six months ago by Consistory Local workers, to those that supply the basic needs for three months to the neediest families, representatives of Caritas made contact with them to see possibility of another campaign.
Also, officials of Caritas has appealed to the sensibilities of society totanera given the scarcity of food and basic needs that exist in a large number of families living in Totana.
For their part, workers in the City Council have thanked the cooperation of all persons who have participated in this initiative with the intention to repeat this charity campaign to collect food on several occasions.
