The councilman of Social Welfare and Citizenship, Juan Carrion Tudela, along with teaching the course coordinator of the Association Infirmorum Salus, María José García, regional president of the association, Joaquina Lucerga, and the director of the School of Work Practices of Psychology at the University of Murcia, Conrado Navalón Vila, opened yesterday at the Colegio de La Milagrosa the course "Care and appropriate treatment in older people" which is framed as the training offered by the "X Totanero Volunteer Meeting," which run until February 25.
A total of 30 people involved in this course is for volunteers, caregivers and families in general, as well as people interested in this type of care.
The seminar lasts for 30 hours, 20 of which theory is taught in the audiovisual room of the Colegio de La Milagrosa, Monday through Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00 pm.
The other 10 hours, which will be practical, be developed in residential homes or in the "home".
The course coordinator told the audience that Totana has 3,905 people in an age range between 65 and 85 years and 482 in excess of 85 years, at which he said is very important to try to contribute to improving quality of life of these people, who often live alone and do not have any relatives who can help.
For his part, Conrad said Navalón are many agencies that support this course, the quality of it is relevant, but a course of this nature would not be possible without the coordination of the association.
In this sense, the expert stressed the importance of the volunteer figure consistently governed by an association.
On the other hand, the mayor of Social Welfare thanked the representatives of the Association the work performed in the municipality to offer such training courses through which improves the quality of life of people with a progressive disease and incurable.
With this course, as indicated Carrión, is intended to contribute to the training and expertise of the participants on issues related to the care and proper treatment in the elderly physically and psychologically battered.
This seminar will be conducted by physicians, psychologists and nurses.
In addition, it also has the approval of various institutions (like the University of Murcia and the Murcia Health Service), has scoring value for the student's curriculum.
