The councilman of Social Welfare and Citizenship, Juan Carrion, accompanied by the coordinator of the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle", presented the activities under the project "Gelem-Gelem: Community interventions in social housing, which is placed up for the second consecutive year, beginning on February 1.
The project, funded by the Instituto Murciano Social Action in collaboration with the municipal social services, is aimed at all those people who for any reason or difficulty not been able to finish school and have been forced to leave school and want to learn or improve basic content of literacy and numeracy and, in three things and like to gain the skills necessary to function in daily life, while getting closer to a particular job.
The objectives of this project are to enable a meeting space where participants offer an alternative educational and training attractive and different from traditional and formal education, as well as promoting mutual respect among their neighbors and toward the middle in which they live and where they can improve the physical conditions of sanitation of their dwellings and common areas also like to learn a trade to increase the possibility of labor insertion through painting and gardening workshops.
From "The Candle" have said the project, which includes three types of actions, divided into different workshops of Literacy, painting and gardening, is to perform with the same participants, to acquire training and receive various kinds scholarship assistance will be provided with two of them.
The project will start with the "Workshop on Literacy, which will be given to two groups of 15 participants each from 1 February until 29 April.
Group 1 workshop will be held in the Social Housing Argentina Street on Monday and Wednesday from 17:00 to 19:00, and Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30.
On the other hand, Group 2 workshop will be held in the social housing in the neighborhood "El Parral" on Monday and Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00 and Thursday from 19:30 to 21:00.
The "Paint Shop", for 10 participants will be taught in the Social Housing Argentina Street March 22 to April 15, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 13:30 pm and Participants will receive 10 euros per day scholarship assistance.
Finally, the "Workshop of Jewelry and Clean" will be held in the Social Housing Argentina Street, from 3 to May 21 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 am to 13:30 pm.
This workshop is for 10 people, who will also receive 10 euros per day scholarship assistance.
