The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by the Director of IMAS, Isabel Sola, and Councillor for Citizen Participation, Juan Carrion, presented yesterday during the act of recognition of local volunteers, the volunteer honor card the municipality to the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana.
During the tribute, organized by the Department of Citizen Participation, policy makers were responsible for delivering a certificate of recognition to a total of 33 associations and 46 volunteers.
As explained by the mayor of Citizen Participation, Juan Carrion, Totana has 305 associations and groups, organizations that host volunteers who selflessly altruistic works programs and projects that they develop.
He recalled that the Voluntary Service was launched from the Department, in collaboration with the Collective "The Candle" in 2007 with the aim to promote, revitalize and strengthen volunteering in the town of Totana.
In this sense, the mayor explained that thanks to the launch of this service, which has collaborated with the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Totana has 549 volunteers who carry out voluntary work within the public and / or private.
Of these, 433 associations and 46 assist in different areas involved in municipal management.
He further stated that bearing in mind the great work done by the volunteerism have developed several of rewarding these people who every day give their time to help others.
These include developing a volunteer ID card that they have 549 volunteers who can access various benefits and discounts offered by the Local Administration and the 172 shops in town that work.
For his part, Mayor of Totana highly appreciated the work of each of the volunteers who carry out their work in partnerships, municipal activities, and those who every day do not belong to any association.
He also recalled that it was the plenary of the Corporation who took the institutional and unanimous agreement acknowledging the work of volunteers from Totana.
The municipality, as recognized Martínez Andreo, has a large network of associations that makes Totana become a city of solidarity with the will to carry out many projects and thus make it more dynamic, "because the volunteers are the engine needed to combine this great project. "
Also, the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, congratulated the volunteers, from the youngest to the oldest person, working every day in an altruistic way, without expecting anything in return.
Bascuñana, who thanked him for his appointment as a volunteer for honor of the town, invited all those attending the opening ceremony of the National Volunteer Conference will be inaugurated by the Prince of Asturias on December 3 at 12:00 in the Auditorium and Congress Center Víctor Villegas.
