BP inaugurates Storage and Distribution of Liquid Petroleum Gas in Totana (20/11/2009)

With the Storage and Distribution Centre, BP Gas strengthens its ability to serve customers of propane in the area

BP, one of the world's leading companies in the energy sector, has opened a Center for Storage and Distribution of LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) in the town of Totana Murcia.

The inauguration, which took place yesterday, was attended among others, the Hon.

José Antonio Valverde Queen, Councillor for Industry, Mr José Martínez Andreo, Totana Mayor-President and Hon.

José Francisco Puche Forte, Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research and Murcia, on the part of BP, Sr.D.

John Carey, Director International Business Liquified and Bressel Ms Pilar de Velasco, Director of the LPG business in Spain

BP's investment in these new facilities has risen almost three million euros and responds to development plans for this business in Spain.

During the inauguration, the Director of the LPG business in Spain, Ms. Pilar Bressel de Velasco said: "This distribution and storage facility is to ensure excellence in quality customer service end."

The new LPG facility, expandable in the future, currently has a storage capacity of 120 cubic meters of propane gas, energy that is considered one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly because it contains no sulfur or lead, is not toxic or corrosive and combustion ashes or odor free.

LPGs, among which are butane and propane from natural gas wells and oil refining and are fuels with high energy efficiency, great versatility of use and virtually free of impurities.

The event also involved the International Director of BP Gas, Mr. Carey, who insisted: "This project means a commitment to business development in the geographic area with the highest standards of safety."

José Martínez Andreo said in his speech that was "great news" for the city's bid for Totona BP and stressed its readiness for future projects of BP.

Similarly, the Hon.

Director General of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, D.

José Francisco Puche Forte, made a special mention to the facilities meet safety and stressed: "It is a pleasure for the regional government that BP has chosen to Murcia for this project."

Most BP LPG distribution in Spain comes from the BP refinery in Castellon and transported by truck equipped with the latest technology.
