The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, councilors of Agriculture, John Pagan, and Welfare, Juan Carrion, and the secretary general of the Union of Small Farmers (UPA) in the Region of Murcia, Marcos Alarcon, inaugurated the Conference on convincing and Immigration Integraculturas, which were held throughout the day yesterday at the local fairgrounds.
During the conference, organized by UPA in collaboration with the town of Totana, the Autonomous Community and the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, we developed a competitive food industry machinery and fork-lift, which was awarded the best skill in handling mechanical truck.
Also, there was a typical cooking contest, in which immigrant associations attending the conference, with the participation of the Association of Indigenous Women of Cañar of Totana, performed a traditional meal from their country of origin, and the participants could taste different gourmet dishes.
Prizes for both contests included the delivery of 100 euros for first prize and $ 50 for the second.
The secretary general of the Union of Small Farmers (UPA) welcomed the assistance from both the municipal authorities and immigrant participants.
He explained that the aim of this conference was to "create a space of coexistence between different cultures and be able to approach these people and make them feel at home."
Similarly, the mayor of Totana welcomed the organization of this conference, and highlighted the great work that immigrants have taken place in the Region of Murcia with its work dedicated to the productive sectors.
