Exercise an active and critical consumer of the messages released by the media to try to understand the keys to the multicultural reality in which we live, is the objective of the course at the Universidad Internacional del Mar "Educating for the media in a multicultural society, which be held in the town of Totana during the week of 14 to 18 September.
The course addresses the relationship between media and the formation of citizens from the practice and analysis of information concerning that gives us today.
Responsible for the course is necessary to create spaces in which to analyze the contents of the communication, and deepen education from and for the media to be selective in their consumption.
The course combines practical reflection, assessing the impact of media on society and analyze information and training function as print media, radio, television or Internet, while offering strategies to help educate citizens understanding of media content.
The activity is directed by Professor of the University of Murcia Francisco Javier Ballesta Pagan, and involves journalists, writers and teachers from several Spanish universities.
The course lasts for thirty hours, and those who are entitled to make a total of three elective credits.
