Totana City Council joins the European initiative called "Improving the climate of your city's Town Without My Car!" Through the signing of the Accession Letter, to be held on 22 September this year 2009, aimed at raising public awareness of the need for a new urban mobility, avoiding the inconvenience caused by the irrational use of the car in the city.
Through this initiative, presented by the Department of Environment and approved by the Local Government Board at its last meeting, also intends to involve the departments of Public Safety, Facility Management Services and the City, Civil Protection and Police Local and supports essential to the smooth development of the European initiative "Improving the climate of your city's Town Without My Car!".
Thus, as reported by the Councillor for the Environment, Trini Cayuela, through this accession "the City agrees to take one more step in a long-term initiative, aimed at raising public awareness of the need a new urban mobility, avoiding the inconvenience caused by the irrational use of the car in the city "
The City Council of Totana, along with the environmental policy being developed, aims through this initiative, including encouraging citizen behavior consistent with sustainable urban development, raise public awareness about the environmental impacts of transport and their different modes use, giving citizens an opportunity to use alternative means of transport to the car and offer citizens the chance to rediscover the city, its people and its cultural heritage, in a healthy and relaxed.
