In this sense, the mayor has pointed out the full City Council, through a proposal submitted jointly by the Department of Social Welfare and Education, urged the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous Region of Murcia to the implementation for the next school year 2009 - 2010 of a new Open Classroom in Totana to cover care for children with special educational needs.
Open Classrooms, Cayuela Trini explained, are specialized classes in mainstream schools, which are an extraordinary resource that can provide a context for some students with special educational needs have a significant disability.
In such classrooms serving children with special needs arising from pervasive developmental disorders, learning disabilities, multiple disabilities, hearing impairment, severe motor disability associated with other deficiencies, which requires an individualized care enrollment and a significant adaptations of the curriculum.
Also, the mayor recalled that the Ministry of Education gave the school "Tierno Galván" of an Open Classroom Totana last year, which, as stated "is assuming an educational response in a normalizing context for pupils with special educational needs no access to regular schooling. "
