Trajectory and history of Moorish oven
Potter's oven refurbished, it was revealed its existence and condition thanks to the archaeological work conducted in 1996 by the Directorate General of Culture of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, "Archaeology in Action Avenida de la Rambla of Paseo de Santa Ollerías "directed by Professor José Sánchez Pravia.
The Moorish oven is perpendicular to the Rambla de la Santa, as it passes through the village center, where there is a slightly raised platform about 45 inches, which marks the public entrance to the historic building, whose surface is covered by a "board ceramic "in the manner of a mosaic of parts drawn in different formats.
Project implementation has been made in tribute to this ancient craft of craft, which is a distinctive cultural identity for residents of Totana, where the quintessential traditional craft is pottery and ceramics, this being a reflection of the name some of the streets such as Ollerías and Tinajerías and the presence of Arab furnaces listed by Heritage and Cultural Interest.
Known pottery has its origins in medieval times.
The tradition is ancient and handed down from father to son through many generations, some of which date back to the eighteenth century, as recorded in the files.
In addition, there is evidence of the prehistoric pottery and some of them more than 2,600 years ago.
This is confirmed by the town of cones, Iberian settlement, which based its economy on agriculture, livestock and crafts such as blacksmiths, millers, weavers and potters, an activity mainly located in the neighborhood of the Ollerías.
