The Police Canine Unit Local de Totana has recently participated in the "First Championship of Spain Interpolicial Canine Guide", held in the city of Móstoles Madrid, winning the third prize in the search of drugs.
This event, organized by the local police Móstoles (Madrid), to commemorate the day of its patron saint, San Juan Bautista and 40 years since its inception, was held at the Plaza de Toros in the town, where it was enjoy the search for modalities such as drugs (hashish, heroin and cocaine), searching for explosives, evidence of proficiency in jumps and obstacles, obedience exercises and drills for defense and attack.
In addition to the participation of the Police Canine Unit Local Móstoles, local police units participated in Gijón, Granada, Melilla, Roquetas de Mar, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Tenerife, Bilbao, Rubi (Barcelona) and Totana.
The Community of Madrid was represented by Rivas Vaciamadrid, Villanueva of Camus and Madrid.
The jury was composed of different control canine units belonging to participants, as well as a military commander of the Royal Guard, who were delivered the trophies to the top three finishers in each specialty.
In the search mode of narcotics were three simulated exercises, hiding in each one of them a different substance.
In the first year was a record of three vehicles, both inside and the outside of them, being one of them a piece of hashish hidden.
The second exercise consisted of the search of a few grams of heroin hidden in a park furniture and the third was to locate a few grams of cocaine hidden in a locker, cabinets and similar furniture.
In addition, during the event were some professional papers directed solely to members of the Canine Unit participants, which were held at the headquarters of the local police Móstoles.
