Totana joins the commemoration of the "European Union Day" (07/05/2009)

The town of Totana is added to commemorate the "Day of the European Union", held on Saturday May 9, by organizing various activities to be developed in schools "The Miracle" and "Reina Sofía" the locality.

Thus, giving effect to the whole agreement proposed by the new Department for European Programmes, through which it urged the General Directorate of Institutional Relations and External Action of the Presidential and Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of Murcia to support the conclusion in the town of Totana of the celebrations of May 9, "European Union Day."

In the Region of Murcia, the Directorate General for Institutional Relations and External Action has organized a series of activities in collaboration with the municipalities of Murcia, Cartagena, Abanilla and Totana.

As in previous years, this day is celebrated the eighth edition of the drawing contest "My people Europe", aimed at infants and primary schools in the Region of Murcia.

This year has had the participation of 23 schools and over 6,000 children across the region, including the Reina Sofia School of Totana.

The awards, which will be borne by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, will take place tomorrow, Friday, May 8 afternoon, at the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia.

In this event, they give a gift in the form of educational materials for schools that have participated in this contest.

Also in the different schools were conducted during March and April, drama ("Twelve Stars Yellow" and "My people, Europe).

Specifically, tomorrow Friday, May 8 at the Colegio La Milagrosa de Totana, at 10.00 hours, in the VII Semana Cultural, will be performed the play "Twelve Stars Yellow."

Through a playful manner will be explained to children how was the European Union, some of his most important accomplishments, and the meaning of the celebration of May 9.

In this regard, the council of European Programmes, Juan Carrion, said that "the town of Totana like to join this celebration with a series of acts and shows the interest of the government team to contribute to community establish the values of peace and solidarity and strengthen the good relations with the European residents. "
