The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the councilman of Culture, Ana Belén García, participated in the tour that made Santa Cecilia Choir members with songs and prayers, visiting the shrines and crosses located throughout the town to receive the month of May.
This activity "Canto de Los Mayos", organized by the Santa Cecilia Chorus in collaboration with the Department of Culture, and framed in the "Cultural Spring" aims to recover a tradition that began when the youth were engaged in round and decorated with flowers young people's homes and the doors of churches.
On April 30, Totana streets filled with the smell of spring, color and devotion, with songs and ballads, performed by the Coro Santa Cecilia, which starts at the Parish of the Three Hail Marys, were visiting, accompanied by the councilman of Culture , numerous altars and crosses full of flowers located in different parts of the city.
El Canto de Los Mayos gathered crowd that witnessed the beauty of these songs, which together with the splendor of the altar decorated with colorful flowers, welcomed the month of the Virgin Mary, the month of spring, the May, according to the councilman of Culture, Ana Belén García, who expressed his satisfaction at the successful participation in this event organized for the first time, in order to rescue a tradition as old as this, which this year celebrates its second edition.
