Occupational Classroom students, launched through a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Education and the city of Totana, and students of the Vocational Centre "José Moya" recently participated in the "Book Project" promoted by the Department of environment.
The objective of this project is to contribute to growth and progress of member countries, through international cooperation, promote sustainable development through the reuse of materials and publicize Ecoparks Network of Murcia.
"Project Book" is an initiative that involves collecting books and materials, that will be reused by people in schools and social centers for Spanish-speaking countries, while furthering their education, enhance human and social values recycling and sharing of culture.
First, the students were in the Plenary Hall of the Ayuntamiento de Totana, where watched a documentary of the process of collection, transport and distribution in Peru and Nicaragua of the materials collected during previous years, and later move to where there were Ecoparque the sorting and packaging.
This event was attended by the Councillor for Environment, Trini Cayuela, and technique of the municipal department, who were in charge of explaining the project.
Subsequently, students were acting Occupational Classroom environmental volunteer, sorting, packaging, selecting books for nursery, primary, secondary, collections, short stories, reading books and school supplies, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.
The activity, which was very satisfying and rewarding experience for participating students, aims to address some of the major problems of developing countries where families lack the resources to buy school supplies and children end up at home or at work.
