The councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrion Tudela, accompanied by the rehabilitation techniques Municipal Psychosocial Support Service, and Ana Elena García Rachetti have participated in the "I Jornadas municipal mental health", held in Sewell.
This conference, organized by the City Sewer, entitled "Reflections on mental health" have been a multidisciplinary meeting place from different areas are involved with mental health, to encourage reflection, not only in professionals, but in the general population.
These seminars were aimed at relatives of people with health problems, professionals in the field, students and interested individuals, and have benefited from the presence of experts who have addressed the issue from the experience.
The paper conducted by the mayor and the techniques of mental health rehabilitation in Totana, explained the operation of this municipal service, a pioneer in the Region of Murcia, which is serving as a model for deployment in other towns like Alhama.
Psychosocial Support This service is a municipal that currently serves about 20 people diagnosed with mental health in our town, working on promoting personal autonomy of people with mental illness, developing social skills, communication, intellectual or creative.
It also aims to stimulate the skills and abilities of users in order to work on improving personal and social autonomy, so be gaining independence from caregivers and families to facilitate their participation in the standard social life, according to sources of service.
To achieve these objectives we are working in different areas such as introduction to computer science, health education, psycho-education, digital photography, cognitive stimulation, introduction to carpentry, personal development, etc.
In addition, it was explained that the town of Totana will become a regional reference in relation to services to the mentally ill and mentally with the launch of the new Multipurpose Center for Persons with Disabilities, which has been built next to the Occupational Center " José Moya ", in which training and therapy are currently about 50 people daily.
The new building of over 700 square meters, whose works have been completed, will be fully operational in early 2010, after being fitted for all installations with adequate equipment and activities have been launched.
On the other hand, the mayor explained that we are currently working with the Ministry of Social Policy, to establish lines of funding for maintenance, and to date remains fully equipped with the municipal budget of 100,000 euros.
