The Department of Culture has called the "XVII Jail Totana Literary Contest 2009" in the form of narrative and poetry, whose prizes amounting to 3,200 euros.
The first prize in the narrative is endowed with 1,000 euros and the second with 500 euros, also the winner of first prize in the poetry will receive 800 euros and the second prize of 400 euros.
Also, be granted a second prize of 500 euros to the work presented where the author or resident in Totana, for it shall submit a certificate of residence in the municipality.
This recognition, as explained by the Councillor for Culture, Ana Belén García López, is to Totana neighbors are encouraged to participate in this competition every year becomes more history and promotes the town and its culture outside the Region because during these years have participated in the competition comunidadades authors of other regions and other countries like France and Argentina.
The basis set that may participate in this event all authors who wish, with one original work in Castilian (in one or both modalities), which must be unpublished and not be awarded in other contests.
Furthermore, the author may not have been awarded in this contest in the last two editions.
López García explained that the theme of the works of the event is free.
For the narrative mode the minimum length is 5 pages and a maximum of 20, written on one side only and double spaced, while in poetry the extension will be a minimum of 50 lines and a maximum of 100.
Entries should be submitted by mail and sent in an envelope addressed to: "Literary Contest XVI Totana Jail 09" City of Totana, Socio-Cultural Center "The Jail", Jardines de Ramos Camacho s / n, 30850 Totana.
Inside this sealed envelope is inserted four copies of the work and without any information identifying the author and another sealed envelope must contain a photocopy of ID or its foreign equivalent and a sheet that included the mode in which competition work title, author's name, mailing address and email address, telephone number and a brief bibliographical note.
The deadline for artwork is 13 March and the awards ceremony will be held on April 24, coinciding with World Book Day.
Also may submit work via email, and will be sent to the address fmoya@ayto-totana.net, so that emails containing the text of the book is headed with the title XVI Literary Contest "Jail" Totana 2009, and will not have any information that identifies the author or nickname and a file will be attached stating the same data as if sent by mail.
The jury will consist of the mayor to act as chairman, Councillor of Culture, which will be the vice president and the rest by people well known in the field of literature.
All of them act and vote.
The jury may declare or share any prize, if appropriate.
