Service agents Nature Conservation (SEPRONA) of the Guardia Civil de Murcia, in collaboration with staff of the Directorate General of Livestock and Fisheries in the Region of Murcia, restrained yesterday, in a pig farm Totana (Murcia ), 462 pigs were in a state of neglect, "Operation PIGLETS.
In facilities that lacked municipal license to open, were found, in addition, 36 pigs killed at different stages of decomposition, and remnants of skin, bones and heads of such animals in the vicinity.
The pigs, who saved some piglets, had no access to food of any kind, had begun to devour some of the bodies in the place.
On the farm other serious irregularities were discovered as the existence of a ditch more than two meters deep in which some bodies had been dumped and two rafts without proof for the storage of slurry.
The actions taken will be forwarded to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia, since they constitute several offenses relating to animal health and welfare.
