The City Council of Totana, through the Social Welfare Department has received a grant from the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), amounting to 175,245 euros to be allocated to the maintenance of the Center for Child Development and Early Care and Occupational Center " José Moya. "
For its part, the Local Town Hall provide the amount of 172,988 euros, as envisaged in the budgets approved by that body for 2009, to cover various costs (professional, transportation, dining, etc.).
The councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, expressed his satisfaction, and that the City of Totana is promoting more than 15 years, the development of early childhood in the town, which was reinforced two years ago with the establishment of this center that has served during 2008 to more than 100 children in the locality.
Through it offered a set of interventions, targeted to children 0-6 years old, the family and the environment, which aim to respond as soon as possible temporary or permanent needs presented by children with developmental disorders or who are at risk of suffering.
On the other hand, the Occupational Center "José Moya" has served during 2008 to over 35 adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as the demands of their families, and it is a center that is a social service development staff of people with disabilities in order to achieve within the scope of each, to overcome the obstacles that disability poses to them their social integration.
The purpose of these centers is to secure the services of occupational therapy staff and social adjustment to their recipients.
