The departments of Social Welfare and Health of the City of Totana propose to the plenary of the Corporation to be held on Tuesday 30 December on two motions requesting that rare diseases are included in the procedure for recognition and statement degree of disability of patients and the approval of the Regional Strategy for 2009-2012 Murcia Rare Diseases. "
In this regard, the councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrión, explained that rare diseases are a group of diseases for which there is incomplete knowledge affecting a large number of people posed a great challenge in terms of public health due to lack of information.
However, as indicated by the mayor responsible for the municipal area, patients with these diseases have a number of common features, affect the patient's autonomy and involve a motor deficit, sensory or intellectual half of the cases.
Thus, according to Carrión, it is necessary to include rare diseases in the procedures for the recognition and classification of the degree of disability helping to alleviate the situation undoubtedly makes a standardized development of activities of daily living by of those affected.
For these reasons, the departments propose to the House to urge the National Government for inclusion in the RD 1971/1999 of 23 December procedure for the recognition, reporting and rating the degree of disability RD.
Furthermore, also asked the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Directorate-General Pension Valuation and Inclusion Programs - IMAS incorporating rare diseases in the procedures used by assessment teams.
On the other hand, the departments of Social Welfare and Health also proposed the adoption and full implementation by the regional government of the "Regional Strategy 2009-2012 Murcia Rare Diseases."
