The councilman of Culture, Ana Belén García López, presented awards to the best readers in 2008 during a ceremony held at the Centre for Sociocultural "Jail", by initiative aimed at rewarding the users in child categories youth more books have been taken from this service during this year.
According to Garcia-Lopez, the main objective of this initiative is to recognize the reading habits of younger users of the Municipal Library and Reading Center of El Paretón, thereby to promote reading, and congratulated all the winners at the same time he wished a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all attendees.
The awards consisted of a set of books for each child and awarded a diploma issued by the Department of Culture.
Likewise, presented a small gift to all children attending the event.
According to the award categories, the prize for best child readers of the municipal library of Totana fell on the following participants: María López Cánovas, 7 years old (140 books), Rubén López Cánovas, 4 years (126 books) Alba Martínez Ibáñez, 8 (116 books), Raquel García Martínez, 7 (104 books), Daniel Serrano Madrid, 7 (100 books), and Raul Gil Ponce, 7 (83 books).
Afterwards, guests enjoyed a performance at the auditorium of the Central Jail by sociocultural group La Murga Theatre with the play "The wasp artist."
Moreover, this Christmas City Library has organized several activities, such as charters to the Three Kings with pictures, calendars and crafts cutouts, plus games and stories, to be held on Friday 2 January at noon.
