Juan Fco Otálora said that according to the per capita allocation going to the Government of Spain, is expected to invest in Totana 850 million pesetas (€ 5,085,000), of which the City Council will have to Totana execution of public works projects to mobilize the economy and provide work, so as to be able to create nearly 150 new permanent jobs.
He also said that the Zapatero government initiative should increase the money it intends to invest the council, which is an extra money, but not a substitute for municipal investment, which must be maintained and in which the City must make a special effort.
Otálora emphasized effort and sensitivity to do all the government money to put into circulation to boost employment-generating projects to revive the economy in this regard, he recalled that the president should also exercise extreme Valcárcel supports and approach the extra EUR 250 million that the Government of Spain will be used in Murcia as effective and concrete measures for economic recovery.
Among other initiatives, the Socialist leader said as possible projects to build a new public school, the construction of new headquarters of the Guardia Civil, Municipal Accessibility Plan, the Comprehensive Plan of the Barrio de San José and San Roque, collection storm water, etc.
In this sense Otálora has submitted a proposal to direct the mayor to set up a committee comprising all political groups to identify priority projects to be addressed in the coming months, and should be endorsed at an extraordinary plenary session before end of the year.
He stressed the need to be very agile and operational in order to get the extra money offered by the Government of Spain, and urged the current government to work immediately and effectively.
