The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, have presided over the act of reading a manifesto on the occasion of International Day of Mental Health, established by the World Health Organization under the slogan "change the perception that much of the population is about people with mental illness."
This event, organized jointly by the Municipal Department of Psychosocial Support and the Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness of Totana and Aledo, AFEMTO, who wanted to join the celebration of this day with the reading of a manifesto.
Through the show is intended to appeal to increase public awareness and acceptance of mental illness and people living with these disorders, to promote public policies and improve diagnostic services and comprehensive and individualized treatment, reducing stigma and persistent discrimination which so often act as barriers for people seeking services and supports available to them and recognize the claim and citizen action as an effective tool to bring about change in global mental health.
City officials have made clear their intention to continue fighting to claim these rights and announced that the next plenary session will present a proposal to encourage regional and national organizations to promote continuous improvement in health and social care mental health and give priority to mental health.
Finally, members of the Municipal Service Psychosocial Support and the Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness of Totana and Aledo, through reading the manifesto sent a message of hope and encouraged the Administration to bet on the improvement quality of life of this group and to increase funding so that each can have access to individualized treatment in all aspects of their recovery. "
They also urged the various governments to continue fighting for the right to appropriate treatment, effective, humane and qualified. "
