The Department of Women and Equal Opportunities, presented a proposal to the full City Council to urge the Institute of Women of the Autonomous Region of Murcia to locate a Service Center Gender Violence, with all staff which is a center of its kind in the town of Totana.
Through this initiative, presented by Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, also aims to equip a municipal area with the capacity to host the Centre of Attention to Gender Violence.
The mayor noted that equality policies and many other related to women in the town of Totana, revolve around the II Plan for Equality between Men and Women of Totana.
Thus, argued that one of the most important objectives of the Plan is to "eradicate the scourge of gender violence."
Thus, in the town was producing an average of 150 complaints per year for physical and / or psychological violence against women at home, said Josefa Maria Sanchez, who said that "in many cases is the helplessness felt by victims of violence gender to the lack of resources and social and legal resources that makes no complaint. "
Therefore, and to provide optimal care to people suffering domestic violence in the municipality, the mayor has made this proposal to the plenary.
