The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, has raised a motion to the plenary for discussion at the regular October meeting to be void and without effect the agreement of disapproval directed to the Governing Board of the Agricultural Cooperative of Totana (COATO) and it was approved by the Municipal Council in October 2012.
The agreement was adopted with the votes of PP and against opposition groups, at that time, PSOE and Izquierda Unida-Los Verdes.
The Mayor presented in the previous legislature a motion of censure following a public debate with the announcement, at that time, corporate brand "TotanaOrigen. Agricultural and Livestock Quality" (TO), promoted at the time by the City Council, through products produced and processed in this county.
Now, the new mayor presented the proposal on the understanding that "you can not fail from the institution to a Governing Council, in exercise of freedom of expression and criticism, disagreed publicly on the performance of a municipal government."
In addition, the ruler understands that "make a critical addition to healthy democracy, on a share of the ruling party can not be considered reprehensible by the institution or by the government"
He also argues in his motion that "mixing action of a government (and rightfully criticized debatable) with the" good name of Totana "has connotations of" dark past "that must be overcome once. The name of a people does not belong of any party, be given by a majority vote. "
It also plays the mayor that "failing, in any event, could be used for public office that does not have honest behavior in their management, but never for a review".
