The Local Government Board approved at its last regular session, an aid of 6,000 euros to IES "Juan de la Cierva" in respect of maintenance fee program "International Baccalaureate" which has been under development for over a decade.
This agreement, which has promoted the initiative of the Councillor for Education, Eulalia Moreno, comes in response to the Plenum of January 25, 2005;
and it has been noting that the academic performance of young people has been very positive, resulting in the benefit of students themselves and the entire educational community.
The Juan de la Cierva Institute of Totana held precisely this past September, the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the teaching of the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate, the event took place at the cultural center "Jail."
IES Juan de la Cierva of Totana introduced the Diploma Programme lnternational Baccalaureate in September 2005 after a rigorous and demanding assessment by the International Baccalaureate Organization, based in Switzerland.
The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and eager for knowledge, who help to create a better and more peaceful world, in the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect.
The lnternational Baccalaureate is a specific title recognized in many countries around the world and carries a sobresfuerzo by students and their families, which is rewarded with the acquisition of skills and abilities of great importance for their physical growth, intellectual , emotional and ethical.
Despite the large budgetary effort and investment involved this type of Baccalaureate the different public administrations, in this case the Ministry of Education and Universities and the City of Totana have maintained their commitment, in accordance with their capabilities, for this modality as one of the priorities of educational administration.
