The writer, journalist and official chronicler of the City of Totana, Mateo Garcia, donated to the Municipal Archives morning cultural and journalistic backgrounds, among which original newspaper collection of the twentieth century, in an act of official reception to be held at the assembly hall, and that all interested persons are invited.
According to sources from the Department of Culture, the donation corresponds to information published by the own Mateo Garcia in the regional press from 1957 until, yearbooks of different regional newspapers, magazines original numbers "Interview", "mark" retired, "Black and White" and other specialized foreign press.
Mateo Garcia Martinez is one of the official chroniclers of the city, with Professor Juan Canovas Mulero, and is also adopted son of the town.
Although born in the nearby town of Alhama de Murcia, very soon he settled in Totana, where he began investigating, studying and collecting historical documents related to the municipality;
and he developed much of his career teaching and journalism.
García Martínez was the maximum precursor of historiographical culture in Totana giving the opportunity to many people, both students and historians, as well as own administration, to access your personal file and to use it to contribute to the restoration and maintenance of the idiosyncrasies of the city.
Furthermore, it is given name since March this year to the public library of the Center Sociocultural "Jail."
