The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, today asked the president of the autonomous region, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, in his first official meeting, the regional government support to address the "difficult and very worrying" economic and financial situation of the City;
and he boarded a plan of needs and actions affecting the municipality for this term.
The alderman, who was accompanied during their meeting in the Palace of San Esteban of the first deputy mayor, Andres Garcia Canovas, moved President executive of Murcia's main priorities in different areas of municipal management must have the invaluable assistance of the regional administration.
Juan Jose Canovas thanked, on behalf of the municipal corporation, the degree of "openness and sensitivity" of the president in this first meeting at the headquarters of the regional government and added that he has great knowledge of the problems affecting the general interest of the neighbors Totana, which "we go quite satisfied."
He stressed, above all, the need for the Regional Administration to help the Consistory totanero address the state of the municipal coffers, for which "the government must lend us a hand," he added.
The mayor conveyed the urgent need for comprehensively addressing the issue of improper powers in municipalities, such as the case of the Education, Social Services and Health, which added a burden to municipalities;
and the desirability of addressing Act Streamlining and Sustainability of Local Government (regional funding) for the provision of services in the municipalities.
During the meeting the mayor moved his interest to promote, with the help of the regional government, as important for economic and social development of Totana, as the industrial park "The Saladar" services;
and new infrastructures like the West Beltway and the Municipal Auditorium.
It also requested the collaboration of the regional government to implement new training programs, employment workshops and training workshops, to encourage employment in the municipality;
and requested funding for future plans of Works and Services (POS) and improvement of rural roads.
More specifically, he moved his claim that the Government of Murcia, through various departments, to assist in the regeneration project of the neighborhoods of San Jose and Las Parras, and specific projects such as the restoration of the Fountain of Juan of Uzeta and Arcos de las Ollerías respectively.
In education, he claimed the Advanced Level of the extent of the Official Language School of Totana and some specific needs that have the oldest centers of Totana, such as the CEIP "Santiago".
Also, the problem of water supply in the districts was addressed and the processing of General Municipal Management Plan were placed to a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure to carefully study the document status and address "the inconvenience" of planning agreements.
Regarding specific commitments enter both administrations, the mayor reported willingness to continue betting on the enhancement of archaeological sites that exist in Totana and the provision of basic social services, such as the residence "La Purisima" and centers day that currently are assisting in this county.
The mayor reiterated its institutional "thank you" and announced that, since it was held the first meeting with the regional president, a round of contacts will start with all members of the regional government;
directors and general managers, in order to address more monographic and precisely these needs and specific actions.
