Totana City Council is undertaking work to improve accessibility and repainting of pedestrian fords under a project funded by the Commonwealth of Tourist Services of Sierra Espuña, which has a total of 76969.37 euros, according to sources of the Department of Tourism.
The project called "Creating accessible routes in the region of Sierra Espuña" is allowing the configuration of an accessible route in the historic centers of each integrated into this entity through specific actions municipalities.
With the creation of the route the elimination of architectural barriers for all people, especially those with disabilities is intended, to visit the historic centers of the municipalities that make up this tourist region.
Commonwealth Tourism Services Espuña consists of the towns of Aledo, Alhama de Murcia, Mula, Pliego and Totana.
Totana route will run through the Plaza of the Constitution, General Aznar streets Sr. Josefa, Puentecico Avenue Rambla de la Santa, municipal park "Marcos Ortiz" Street Bridge and Plaza Balsa Vieja;
that is where they are undertaking these works.
This is financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Local Development, for the period 2012/13;
and it includes implementation of flush curbs, repainting of pedestrian and compacting the pavement in some sections of these roads fords.
After completion, signaling the start of the route and indicators to inform the visitor of the same in order to enable people with disabilities to enjoy some of the most important monuments of the historic center of Totana is placed, the sources of the Department.
