One hundred children aged between 3 and 12 are benefiting from the program of summer schools and reconciling work and family life "Holidays 3.0" the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" is developing this fortnight in schools "Santiago" and "Tierno Galvan" of the town.
The program is implemented under a cooperation agreement with the Youth Council of the City of Totana and has exceeded expectations hundred places available for the first half of July;
although there continue to be places for the last July and early August.
The mayor, Juan José Canovas, and the councilman of Youth, Inmaculada Blazquez, yesterday visited the two schools where they offer this resource that aims to provide comprehensive support to families with children in situation of social vulnerability, making it from a perspective Socio.
The participants, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 hours, perform various and varied activities of school review, English workshop, leisure and recreational workshops, educational games and artistic expression, sports, trips to the pool Municipal water and several parties, among others.
The program, which has been operating in Totana since the mid-nineties, created with the aim of offering alternatives for reconciling work and family life.
Traditionally, the project was carried out only in July but three years is also offering the first August 15, rather having accepted this last turn.
This year has been given the opportunity to register for fortnights, which has provided greater flexibility to users and increased demand.
Also new this year has also been offered 24 to June 30 in order to enable families this resource demanding a break, with some 50 children about those who participated in this program period.
Also, since 2014 involved children arising from Municipal Social Services Centre in families at risk of social exclusion, the fee is fully subsidized by Totana Town Council.
In the first half were 136 registered so far a total of 101 families;
for the second half is expected to also complete the number of places available and for the month of August there is already enrolled about 60 children.
City officials thanked the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" and the municipal officers involvement in the development of this program and reiterated their commitment to such actions in the future to provide a resource that allows integrated support to families with minors in situations of social vulnerability and reconciling work and family life in these times of year.
