The National Archaeological Museum has turned on its website over 400 archiving documentary funds related to the deposits of La Bastida and Campico Lebor, located in Totana (Murcia) and of great importance for the study of culture and Argar Chalcolithic societies in the Iberian Peninsula.
All information is available to any user on the museum's website in the section " thematic catalogs ".
The project will allow researchers to know in detail the evolution of these excavations and contribute directly to research currently being undertaken in La Bastida Group Arqueoecología Mediterranean Social Research in the Department of Prehistory of the Autonomous University of Barcelona way, led by Vicente Lull.
This new material reveals the importance in the 40s of last century took documentary photography as art in archeology.
Among the funds, mostly belonging to the Martínez Santa-Olalla collection, stand 367 negatives showing excavations in the years 1944, 1945, 1948 and 1950 by the SPECIAL EVENTS Primitive Man History of the University of Madrid.
The negatives are known at the time as FilmPack, a pre-roll system consisting of a package with several negative individual pull that fit into the back of the cameras.
Cellulose nitrate compounds, present mostly in two formats 10x8 and 13x18 mm.
To complete the information site of La Bastida are also included funds corresponding to the excavation in 1886 by Louis Siret and Pedro Flores, among which field notebook excavation File "Siret".
Finally, the catalog is complemented by texts, documents and biographies that enrich the information provided by the photographic collections.
