The Department of Health made the installation of traps capture for the presence or absence of the tiger mosquito in Totana (28/04/2015)

The Department of Public Health, through the concessionaire pest control service in the urban environment Lokímica SA, has proceeded during the last week to install multiple capture traps to monitor the presence or absence of mosquito tiger (Aedes albopictus) in Totana.

The traps were placed in the town of Totana, in the hamlet of Paretón-Cantareros and Private Pond.

The tiger mosquito is a small mosquito, adults rarely exceed 5 mm in length, is therefore smaller than the mosquitoes that are used to seeing.

Moreover, it is a mosquito that usually has a low flight, so bites occur primarily in the legs, and sometimes can cause more obvious than those of indigenous mosquitoes inflammatory reactions.

To avoid their sting is convenient to use insect repellent when the gardens, terraces and courtyards of the houses in the twilight hours, and the adoption of measures to prevent small puddles of water is out.
