City officials have recently visited the CEIP "The Cross" from Totana to see first hand the project of "Eco School Garden" which has granted the Autonomous Community, which is supporting the construction of one within the school facilities.
The mayor, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and the councilors of Education, Josefa Maria Sanchez, and Works and Infrastructure, María José Bedia, have known the works that are developing municipal workers for the implementation of this educational project, which aims to promote and organic farming spread among schoolchildren through a series of performances.
During the visit were present the center's director, Ana Belén García López, and the head teacher and secretary of the management team and the president of AMPA, Agustín Martínez.
The organic school garden is being built on existing space next to the kindergarten classrooms and school sports fields.
School gardens are an ideal tool for a company committed to the transition to a Agrifood System (SAA) in harmony with our natural resources and towards more just and equitable social education models.
The school garden at school can address global and interdisciplinary way, by age, a plurality of educational objectives in Infant or compulsory primary education, and a wide variety of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal contents of the various fields and areas present in such educational stages.
It provides a natural and living laboratory where students have the opportunity to "learn by doing" and develop skills and techniques to improve their quality of life, his family and his community.
