The Councillor of Finance of the City of Totana, José María Baeza, explained that the council has reduced by more than 12.5 million debt, financial and commercial, from the beginning of the term.
Baeza has stressed that there have been countless internal containment efforts that have been undertaken to begin to channel the situation without having to raise taxes on the citizens.
These statements were been made to collation of information that was published yesterday by the Ministry of Finance on the financial debt of local authorities in which it annexed the debt in 2013 stood at 75 million euros, compared to 41, 6, 2012.
The mayor clarified that this "rise" is not real, but because the commercial debt providers are paid through the Ministry Payment Plans and this debt has become financial.
In this sense, responsible for Finance has stated that due to payment plans hundreds of companies received the money they were owed for the provision of their services as well as a total of one hundred associations and groups in the locality.
Baeza has stressed that the debt has gone down considerably thanks to the "tremendous effort of containment" and that "despite the thousands of interpretations that are made public by opposition groups" has not increased, but rather that should have been transferred to the banks, allowing hundreds of companies charged their debts with the City.
