The Planning, Protected Areas and the Defense of the Environment Directorate General of the Environment has recently proceeded to fence 48 wells inside the regional park Espuña.
This action comes in response to the request made by the municipal council of Totana, which in April 2013 requested the proposal of the Popular Party, which curbs protection would build wells and Espuña señalizasen to avoid accidents hikers and walkers.
The proposal suggested signaling existing wells within the regional park to promote the safety of pedestrians and hikers, minimizing as far as possible its impact on the area.
Espuña is a reference to the regional level on issues related to the nature of sports.
There are many wells, distributed some places easily accessible and some of them unmarked and illegal, that can cause security problems pedestrians and walkers.
