Local Police Totana adheres to the special campaign on General Traffic Safety Belt and Child Restraint Systems (CRS) which will take place from 10 to 16 March.
The use of approved restraint systems, seatbelt and SRI, as reported by the DGT, has been demonstrated as the road safety system simpler, cost effective and efficient in all types of roads and paths.
The use of seat belts and the SRI is useful for any short or long, urban and interurban route.
All occupants of a vehicle must be secured with appropriate retention system.
The route of the safety belt or harness should never go above the neck, and should be set as low as possible on the hips without clearances.
The seat belt is a basic and essential element of road safety and reduces by half the risk of death in an accident.
The airbag is not effective unless it is complemented by the use of seat belts, and that the seat belt and airbag are designed to operate in a complementary manner.
Failure to use the rear seats is a big risk, because in a frontal impact, the likelihood that an occupant of the back seat fatally hit another passenger front seats can be up to 8 times greater.
