The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, visited the La Bastida Oilfield Argárica to see first hand how they develop jobs that are allowing this complex is open to the public with guided tours.
Specifically, we are carrying out the work conditioning cleaning, maintenance and adaptation of the complex by the City as well as the installation of an advanced system monitoring and alarm systems, funded by the Autonomous Community, to avoid damage and depredations in the reservoir.
Sanchez Ruiz reported currently have scheduled a series of guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays to open the complex every day so that more visitors can access it.
For next year will be built a system to have the park open every day.
The way to visit the Bastida is channeled through the Office of Tourism.
The latest excavations and results of several Carbon 14 dating indicate that La Bastida was probably the most powerful city in continental Europe during the Bronze Age (4200 years ago) and a fortified since its inception, to the 2200 BC with an unusual defense system in Europe at the time.
This is clear from the findings of a wall undertaken in archaeological excavations in 2012 in the field, and brought to light an impressive fortification system unique in its time and the existence of more developed European settlement in political terms and military during the Bronze Age and comparable only with the Minoan civilization of Crete.
