The Governing Council has approved a grant of 120,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous University of Barcelona for its consolidation of the walls and the conservation of archaeological finds from the site of La Bastida argárico in the municipality Totana.
Of the total amount, 70,000 euros will be for the tasks of preventive protection, consolidation and conservation of archaeological finds, residential and funerary structures located in different areas of the site.
There will also be conservation tasks and access structures that are part of the routes currently musealized, which have been prepared for your visit and for the preservation and property monitoring findings discovered during the excavations carried out between 2009 and 2012 .
The remaining $ 50,000 will be used for protection work in the new area excavated and the walls and towers of the city walls.
Following the work done between 2009 and 2012, La Bastida has become an archaeological site of exceptional importance in the scientific, educational, cultural and tourist center.
The regional government's goal is to create an archaeological park that constitutes an international reference for the development of scientific knowledge and dissemination of heritage, in addition to enhancing tourism in the region.
The project of La Bastida is an initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and executed by a research team from the Autonomous University of Barcelona under the joint direction of teachers Vicente Lull, Rafael Mico, Rihuete Cristina Herrada and Roberto Risch.
