The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez Ruiz, recently issued an edict which provides for the application of a 50% reduction in the annual rate of occupation of public roads with tables and chairs to catering establishments in the city, in the rate of use or exploitation of the knowledge that they paid into the Council annually.
This order directly applying reduction factor half is for the years 2012 and 2013, and is dictated by "social reasons of public interest, motivated by the investments to be made by catering establishments as a result of the conditioning of the terraces".
According to the councilor, this rule permits in a way to relieve business owners of the hotel, one of the most important productive sectors of Totana, in these times of economic crisis and due to the reforms that some were forced to undertake the famous "smoking ban".
