On Friday, April 12, at the premises of the cultural center and workers, a cultural event was held in line with the commemoration of the date of proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic which took place on April 14, 1931.
The lecture-was titled "THE REPUBLIC OF TOTANA" (Report of a 14 April 1931), and was conducted by the following speakers:
CARLOS-Vicente Carreño, who spoke on "The strength of a photo".
Title refers to the only image that remains of the proclamation of the Second Republic in Totana.
The talk was aimed at reaching out to people and characters in the picture, and political organizations of the time, the new Republican City Mayor and his councilors, and the reflection that this new political situation was in newspapers the time.
ALFONSO MARTINEZ-CAYUELA, who spoke on "MYTHS ABOUT CHECKING IN TOTANA REPUBLIC II", who tried, now that the Republican policy option is more topical than ever, to unravel preconceptions that are still on the historical period that took place after April 14, 1931.
We attempted to shred all the mythology that both right and left, has filled preconceptions considering not very consistent with reality.
The rapporteur, based on graphic documents and newspaper clippings of the time, tried to get us into a reality enclosure more thorough Republican Totana time.
