This Friday, April 12, at the premises of the cultural center and street worker Doctor Lopez Ibor, 1 (vs. Health Center), will take place according to a cultural event commemorating the date of proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic which took place on April 14, 1931.
The lecture-titled "THE REPUBLIC OF TOTANA" (Report of a 14 April 1931), and will be provided by the following speakers:
CARLOS-Vicente Carreño, who will speak on "The strength of a photo".
Title refers to the only image that remains of the proclamation of the Second Republic in Totana.
The talk will aim at reaching out to people and characters in the picture, and political organizations of the time, the new Republican City Mayor and his councilors, and the reflection that this new political situation was in newspapers the time.
ALFONSO MARTINEZ-CAYUELA, who will speak on "MYTHS ABOUT CHECKING IN TOTANA REPUBLIC II", will try, now that the Republican policy option is more topical than ever, to unravel preconceptions that are still on the historical period that took place after April 14, 1931.
We will try to shred all mythology, both right and left, has filled preconceptions considering not very consistent with reality.
