Totana has been selected, along with eight other municipalities in Murcia, to develop an outreach project that promotes the Directorate General of the European Union and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of the Presidency within the "European Year of Citizens" in order to understand the advantages of European policies.
The objective of this project is to spread among the citizens of the nine municipalities of the region which is chosen for its neighbors as a citizen of the EU and to show how the town has benefited from better services and infrastructure through initiatives and funds Community.
Similarly, it will create opportunities for citizen participation and encourage debate on Europe with various neighborhood groups Totana.
Along with Totana, were selected municipalities of Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Murcia, San Javier, Mula, Yecla and Eagles, respectively.
The program includes a traveling exhibition, lectures, conferences and other educational activities around the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the "Union citizenship" concept introduced by the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, and has been strengthened along these years.
