Volunteers college of the University of Murcia project conducted outside school hours educational reinforcement to prevent and reduce the problems of failure, absenteeism and drop occurring in Totana, aimed at children and young people from primary school and junior secondary school.
The departments of Education and Youth, which promote this initiative is reported diffusion phase of the project between the university and the municipality will soon sign an agreement between the City and the University of Murcia for the program development stage.
The dates and times of service shall be determined to be agreed depending on the availability of volunteers.
Educational support tasks by the volunteer begin in October and be developed through June 2013.
Also, be taught, by each volunteer, two weekly sessions of an hour and half.
This initiative has the support of the company "Coach Espuña", which manages the university shuttle service and finance to students who commute to college, deducting about 100 euros on the fee paid annually.
Through this educational intervention is to improve, especially learning in sociocultural contexts of disadvantage.
The Councillor for Education, Maria Josefa Sanchez, explained that the goal is to make a complementary intervention to the school, from a conception of coordination between the different social actors involved in the educational process of children and youth who is this project.
Through a partnership agreement with the Department of Social and Volunteer Screening at the University of Murcia, it will work with the city to spread the project to volunteers interested in participating, as well as conducting training prior to, among other issues.
In return, participants receive college volunteers certificate stating the hours of voluntary action and credits.
The general objectives are to promote the advancement and integration of children and staff from the areas young school, family and society, through a process of capacity building, as well as prevent and reduce problems of failure, absenteeism and early drop studies.
