The Youth Council reports that last Friday, day 21, began to be taught the course "leisure activities and free time to work with people with intellectual disabilities", with the participation of 25 young people.
This training activity is organized by the Youth Council of the City of Totana and has the support of the Directorate General for the Prevention of Violence Against Women, Youth, Legal Protection of Children and Reform in the Region of Murcia, through the Regional School Animation and Leisure.
The course is designed for monitors leisure, cultural animators, students in these fields of work, and other stakeholders in these areas of learning.
The objectives sought with this course are to support the process of real and effective integration of children with any type of intellectual disability in our scope and know the basic characteristics and the problems associated with people who have some degree of intellectual disability.
Similarly, it is intended, with this training, lead awareness of a reality that we tend to overlook in the field of standardized spare time and resources to facilitate monitors leisure for working with these people the benefit of standardization and integration in the field of leisure and recreation.
In the program content, students will learn the basics of physical and mental disabilities, intervention strategies and relationships with families, the monitor profile, patterns of behavior and communication skills as well as a set of resources Monitors and educators in open, closed, holiday activities and community resources tailored.
The workshop lasts thirty hours and will run for four weekends, as reported by the sources of the Department.
