The program "School Sports", offered by the City of Totana that targets school children aged between 8 and 18 years, will offer for the academic year 2012/13 in schools of the municipality in total eleven sports.
The initiative includes various sports competitions and framed in the "Championship Sports Promotion of the Region of Murcia" and the sports convened for this course are chess, athletics, basketball, handball, badminton, cross country, soccer, playing the Athletics, Guidance, Table Tennis and Volleyball, respectively.
The Councillor for Sports, Bartholomew Pallarés, and the municipal technician, Jesus Serrano, presented the characteristics of program "School Sports", that this school year will allow federated school participation, and exceptionally also allows participation at junior over 18 years, provided that they retain the status of regulated education school.
Sporting competitions will be held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and the participating school in these competitions will have the opportunity to participate in the regional phase, which calls the Directorate General of Physical Activity and Sport in the Region Murcia.
New this year is the first offering to cover emergency health care, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia has signed an agreement with the Murcia Health Service.
For the second and subsequent care, insurance is available to cover for the healthcare and accidents of all participants in the activities organized by the Sports School Age Program.
The Department of Sports of Totana, in collaboration with educational institutions, has also called for this school year a "Day of popular games and alternative sports", aimed at children from 5 ° year of primary school and 2nd year ESO.
The program is defined as a set of sports physical activities aims promote sports in schools and education aimed at the comprehensive school, the harmonious development of their personality, to the achievement of physical and health conditions , and training that enable the continued practice of sport at a later age.
The principles underlying this program, in addition to sports, are formative, educational and leisure, trying to move among all school-age athlete the principles of fair play, camaraderie and healthy lifestyle practices, rejection of violence and integration of all components of a computer without discrimination of any kind.
