A total of 25 students from the University of Murcia participate in the project "Educational Support" in the hands of the Department of Education in which 25 children receive tutoring in order to reduce the problems of failure, absenteeism and dropout.
This project is aimed at children and youth in the municipality and is intended to improve, especially learning sociocultural contexts of disadvantage.
The goal is to make a complementary intervention to school, from a conception of coordination between the different social actors involved in the educational process of children and youth that is this project.
The mayors of Education, Maria Josefa Sanchez, and Youth, Bartholomew Pallares, explained that through a collaboration agreement with the Department of Social and Volunteer Screening at the University of Murcia, it will work with the City in the dissemination of the project Volunteers interested in participating in the training prior to performing them.
In return, participants receive college volunteers certificate stating the hours of voluntary action and credits.
This project will provide individualized support in the child's own home, for those school subjects reforzarle need, thereby improving academic performance and study habits, and trying to involve the family in the educational process of their children.
Educational support tasks by the volunteer begin in October 2012 and would be developed by June 2013 and will take place in the family homes of the children.
Be taught, by each volunteer, two weekly sessions of one hour and a half.
