The Department of Social Services reports that during the first half of 2012 the Center for Child Development and Early Totana has served a total of 113 children aged 0 to 6 years and their families, respectively.
This center, public and municipal serving children in the municipality who have difficulties in their development, in many cases these difficulties are mild or transient, while sometimes they are permanent difficulties.
The care being provided from this center are diverse and developed by an interdisciplinary team consisting of: physical therapist, speech therapist, psychologist and social worker.
The range of situations addressed is quite broad, such as language difficulties, delayed motor acquisitions, deficits in cognitive development, family counseling, and so on.
Sources of this Department are the "high knowledge" of early childhood among professionals working with this age, as physicians (pediatricians and specialists), teachers, social workers, etc..
They also highlight the close coordination of the Centre with resources from the environment; Educational Guidance Team, schools, health services and social services, among others.
