A delegation of students of the Day Centre "José Moya" recently participated in the Regional Championships in Athletics for people with intellectual disabilities held in Monte Romero Stadium (Campus Espinardo Murcia).
The delegation had a total of eleven participants, both male and female category, obtaining very satisfactory results, as they won nine first places, two second places and one third.
In women's competition took Mari Carmen, Ana Rosa, Mari Cruz, Isa Rodriguez, Adelina, Charo and Hope.
They got top five, four of them obtained by Mari Carmen at 100 meters, 200 meters and shot put, discus throw, the fifth was a collective achievement of a relay team (Adelina, Ana Rosa, Isa Rodriguez and Mari Carmen).
Note the involvement of Mari Cruz and Adelina in the trial of 80 meters, and Hope, the oldest athlete of the championship, in tests of 80 meter dash in the shot put.
In male competition participated adapted Pedro Blazquez, Javier, Juan Andres, Paco Cánovas and Pepe.
The first one got the top spot in the shot put and disc: Javier, Juan Andres and Pepe in the trial of 80 meters and shot put.
It also highlights the participation of Paco also Canovas in the long jump competition.
The most important of all, the event was the sportsmanship, camaraderie and collaborative attitude of all participants.
At all times were accompanied by Jero, monitor sports center, Manoli, working from the center, and Sandra, a student intern.
Center users perform in addition to this, other daily and weekly activities related to physical activity: swimming, walking, stretching, and adapted to the users activity dependent.
The shift was made to the capital by train and then bus to campus, so the activity was also useful as knowledge of public transport use and knowledge of community resources.
