The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, along with the mayor of Culture, Alfonso Cayuela, participated in the Forum of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) Espuña through which validated the final document to present their EUROPARC candidacy and thus achieve the accreditation of this protected area with CETS.
In this forum, also participated the mayors of the four municipalities of Sierra Espuña, along with representatives from the Department of Tourism and Environment and local and regional associations related to tourism and environmental conservation are part of this forum aims to become the tool to ensure a new model of tourism management in this space.
The forum works together on this project with the hope of positioning itself as a reference Espuña Nature Tourism, respecting the principles of conservation and quality commitments.
European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, CETS
CETS is an initiative of the Federation EUROPARC global aiming to promote tourism development in terms of sustainability in protected natural areas in Europe.
CETS is a method and a voluntary commitment to implement the principles of sustainable tourism, guiding managers protected natural areas and businesses to define their strategies in a participatory manner.
