A total of thirteen young students, aged between 14 and 15 years from the school, "Reina Sofia" and the two IES de Totana, where they are taught high school, participate in the Hall Occupational mode Cooking Workshop and Pastry, which opened today by the educational authorities and teachers in the municipality at a ceremony held at the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail."
One more year, the city of Totana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment is committed to implementation of remedial education programs through the Occupational Classroom.
The opening ceremony was attended, among others, the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maria Sanchez, and the director of IES "Juan de la Cierva", Juan Manuel Martinez, who will be assigned a classroom for the next two school years.
The Occupational Classroom will be held in the premises of the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail" in time 8:15 to 14:20 pm, Monday through Friday.
The mayor said that during the current school year, participating students can acquire elementary techniques of pre-processing, basic processes of culinary production, supply and conservation issues as well as hygiene in the handling, while continuing their education in basic instrumental areas such as language and mathematics.
Sanchez stressed the importance of this program because, he said, "serves as a classroom for students to link absentee or at risk of school dropout can be reintegrated into the education system, providing educational guidance, counseling and advice to educational alternatives"
Similarly, thanked the Ministry of Education, especially the Service to Diversity, to continue betting on these extraordinary measures to compensate by helping to reduce early school leaving.
Students participating in the program will receive training from a professional team composed of two teachers and a technical teacher hired by the Ministry of Education and Physical Education teacher at IES "Juan de la Cierva".
For its part, the director insisted that students do not miss this opportunity to improve their personal and professional benefit from the future, with a minimum useful preparation such as that offered with this program the government, a job .
Asked participating students to make an effort on his motivation for this program and to collaborate with faculty and institutions that promote it because its implementation is spending some major economic and material resources.
Furthermore, within the educational program, the municipal technical Truancy address other issues related to teaching social skills and coordination of the program by the Department of Education, and keep track of students and their families held in conjunction with the Guidance Department of the IES.
The main objective of the classroom is to give students knowledge prelaborares facilitating especially its continuity in Initial Vocational Training Program.
